When winter's chill starts to fade and the sunny days get longer, it makes sense that many of us are longing for a trip to a faraway tropical island. Although COVID-19 is still impacting travel, there’s still plenty to look forward to. Why not take the time to start planning for your next summer getaway? While a warm-weather destination can be heavenly any time of year, it's extra satisfying when you know you’ll finally get to wear that new tankini you just bought. Whether you will eventually go near or far, there’s an abundance of beautiful beaches, incredible restaurants, and luxurious hot spots around the world waiting for you. Start jotting down notes and imagine packing your bags and flying away to these destinations around the world. Here are a few of our island favorites:

Bora Bora

Whisk away to the French Polynesian islands in the South Pacific and discover stunning blue lagoons, sandy shores, and tropical palm trees in Bora Bora. Wear your sunglasses and a tropical twist front bandeaukini while you lounge on white soft sands and take a dip in Matira Beach’s warm waters. Snorkeling at the Lagoonarium will give you a chance to see colorful reef fish, and you may find yourself lucky enough to see a sea turtle. The island's ancient volcano's stunning views of Mount Otemanu will make this South Pacific paradise a truly magical vacation spot.

Bali

Bali has become one of the hot spots for vacation getaways, and it’s ranked as one of the top destinations in Asia because of its breathtaking views, rich culture and art, delicious food, and of course, beautiful beaches. In fact, Travel Advisor ranked Bali’s Kelingking Beach as one of the top 5 beaches to visit in Asia for its Instagram-worthy photos and gorgeous views. You’ll have no problem going from a stroll at a beach to exploring ancient temples in a tropical cover up over a chic swim dress. Be sure to enjoy Bali’s fresh mangoes, fruits, and juices, which will delight your taste buds and senses.

Seychelles

Located off the coast of East Africa, Seychelles' islands have enchanted visitors with their abundance of coral reefs and natural beauty. Throw on a dazzling white bikini and dive into crystal clear waters on Anse Lazio, one of the most popular beaches on Praslin Island, or take a beautiful walk on Anse Coco beach at La Digue Island. Go on a relaxing sailing excursion or snorkeling at a coral reef if you’re feeling adventurous. Enjoy coastal fine dining and fresh seafood at the many restaurants on each island. However you spend your time on the islands, Seychelles will fill you with moments of awe and delight.

Amalfi Coast

The Italian Sorrentine coastline is an unforgettable destination that will leave you coming back for more. Shimmering blue waters, secret grottos, gorgeous scenery, combined with rich culture, and delicious coastal cuisine will have you falling in love with the Italian coast. With the island of Capri just a short ferry away, you can experience luxury hotel stays while taking in the pristine beauty that surrounds you. Bring your chic one piece swimsuit, your designer sunglasses, and lounge by the water.

Bermuda

Pink sand beaches, turquoise waters, and warm sunny days. Bermuda is a tropical paradise in the middle of the Atlantic ocean and remains a popular destination for a vacation getaway. A few of our favorite stops include Horseshoe Bay, famously known for its pastel pink sands, and Crystal & Fantasy Caves, where you can find beautiful crystal formations that will leave you in awe. Ibiza

Whether you pronounce it as “ee-bee-za”, or “ee-bee-tha,” this Spanish island is a lively destination that will charm your way into your heart. Although the island is known for nightlife, you can avoid the noise and find plenty of R&R here by exploring hidden beaches on the island’s hundred-mile coastline. You can even sign yourself up for a yoga or spa retreat to give yourself some much-needed “me time.” Or, explore the island's rich culture and history on a bike and go on a day excursion to the nearby island Formentera. 

Rio de Janeiro

There’s no better place to show off your new swim bottoms than the land of samba, carnival, and Brazilian tans. Rio de Janeiro is the home to the world-famous Copacabana beach and Ipanema beach, which inspired the bossa nova song “The Girl from Ipanema.” Go from lounging on the beach to shopping at boutiques located down the street from the beach. Enjoy fresh fruit, acai bowls, steak, seafood, and other delicious local food at fine dining restaurants. Take a tram up to Sugarloaf Mountain to get a beautiful view of the city, and don’t miss out on seeing Christ the Redeemer, one of the seven wonders of the world.

The only thing better than planning a trip is finally being on your dream vacation getaway. In the meantime, we’ll all need the extra patience and settle for pictures and planning. For some of us, our ideal getaway includes a tropical island bungalow, but it could be a luxury cruise or a city staycation for others. No matter what kind of traveler you are, there's a perfect destination that's waiting for you once we begin traveling again.
